Project Overview
Jazzdor is a festival held in multiple city around Europe. It is celebration of jazz and improvisational music; a hub connecting artists with music enthusiasts and future collaborators from around the world. Our microsite extends the brand intent by spotlighting the music and artists to entice possible customers.
I was responsible with image treatment, how to communicate Jazzdor's values through a visual identity, how to express an auditory experience, wireframing and prototyping the artist's page.

Microsite Goals
Explore the Acts
The primary goal is to provide an engaging platform for visitors to explore and discover artists, both new and familiar, in the context of the upcoming or ongoing Jazzdor festival.
The secondary goal is to seamlessly guide this exploration towards action, encouraging users to take the step of purchasing a ticket.

Content Strategy
Spotlighting Solos
In order to better understand our target demographic, I reached out to 2 jazz musicians, and conducted informal interviews with them.
From the insights gathered, jazz solos surfaced as an interesting point of focus; they are like fingerprints for each artist, embodying their influences and musical personality. Thus, emphasizing this unique and distinctive feature of jazz music only seemed appropriate.
This approach emphasizes the sound of performing artists, promoting festival attendance as these solos are special to live performances, aligning with Jazzdor's principles of celebrating the creative process and jazz musicians.

Creative Corridors
Direction One
In order to represent the nature of attending a live music festival, I added texture to the image of artists, to gives assets a tactile, real, and grounded identity.
This is complemented by the imitation of punchout printing, by interweaving elements enhances engagement and facilitates a closer, more intentional examination of the visual, promoting a deeper understanding of the conveyed information.

Direction Two
I added motion blur to images of artists in this direction to enhance the dynamic essence of movement captured in the frame.
Large, repeating organic shapes create a structural framework and function as modular frames for graphical elements. These shapes draw attention by defining the negative space and framing content. The placement of overprinted typography guides the viewer's focus toward the framed elements.

Direction Three
In order to simulate the auditory experience, I introduced the use of complementary, high chroma colours, this was paired with overprinting to create dimensionality and visual energy.
A grid of staggered graphics are overprinted to create both visual interest and tension. The buzzing effect drives focus to the mono-colored elements, which support the grid at the boarders.

Refined Direction
Overprinted Grid
Developing direction three, I proposed that the overprinted graphics to be generalized into other geometric shapes and patterns whilst maintaining their role in establishing a modular grid.
I was responsible for mocking up and prototyping the artist's page, creating interactions that conveyed the liveliness and energy of improvisational music; establishing a connection between the visual identity and its navigation with the playful, yet complex auditory experience of jazz.

Landing Page
Reflection
Creating this visual identity was an experience full of discovery. It not only helped me to develop skills in visual and digital design, but it also broadened my perspective towards design. I realized that content strategy is critical to drive home the look and feel of the product design that best honors the brand. There is value in integrating characteristic elements in design to provide that message to customers.
